All about SLATs

05/08/2025
ConnectSquare.png

We started with a desire to deliver the APIC membership a Family Office Resources entire Case Study. That might include going into charitable solutions, grantor trusts, non-grantor trusts and finally commonly seen or watch for defective trusts. However we think breaking down in to parts will allow for a deeper drill down. The solution of SLATs (spousal lifetime access trust) has plenty to cover all by itself to fill an educational call. We are lucky to have Mike Fowler, Wealth and Estate Planning Strategist with FOR out of Atlanta, GA to take us through all the ins and outs of this topic. SLAT (irrevocable grantor trust) presentation is timely because if the current laws were to expire in Dec 2025, could be used as solution to capture the lifetime exclusion to protect it from being reduced in the future.
